  We have used Chattanooga Funeral Home for our family members for years and find that Gene Pike and his staff are very professional and go above and beyond to make sure our family is completely satisfied. You may pay a little more for their services, but if you want a professional funeral director who is compassionate and knowledgeable it is worth the extra cost. I have friends who have used lower priced funeral homes and they paid the ultimate price for skimping a little on what they spent. Like the old saying goes, "you get what you pay for!"

  Chattanooga Funeral Home was suggested to us by Hospice nurse when my mother in law died. CFH is part of a Texas conglomerate which owns most of the funeral homes in the Chattanooga area. If you complain about their charges, they will tell you to shop around. They are not worried you will find a better price, since they have a monopoly. They charged us $2650 to prepare, embalm, and ship a body to Michigan for a funeral from another home. The Home in Michigan said the average charge for this service is $1000. Tom VanderWall of Vanderwall funeral home in Dayton, TN charges $995. There may be others outside the TX monopoly, but shop around. The CFH's average cost for entire funeral is $12-14,000.00. And they have a central embalming center which did such an awful job on my husband's mother that he thought they had shipped him the wrong body. Her mouth and lips were so pumped full of fixer that she looked buck toothed and hideous. It was terribly upsetting to her family because they didn't recognize her. AVOID Chattanooga Funeral Home and most others in the area. Call Vanderwall Funeral Home in Dayton, TN. Tom Vanderwall buried my son that died in childbirth 15 years ago in an area he calls 'babyland', and he was wonderful to us.
